Bridgeway Academy in Dartmouth is offering an introductory-level course on teaching social skills to students with learning disabilities. Most behavioral issues that occur in classrooms and on the playground are often a direct result of poor social skills.
Participants will learn how to help students develop the skills necessary for initiating, building and maintaining relationships as well as communicating their needs in a positive manner.
We will be focusing on the following:

How do I teach social skills?

Where do I find resources for teaching these skills?

Prerequisite:Teaching Social Skills Level 1
Bridgeway Academy is offering an advanced-level course on teaching social skills to students with learning disabilities. This hands-on program will focus on applying and practicing the strategies introduced in the Level 1 program through group work, role playing and case studies.
We will be focusing on the following:

Simulation experiences to help participants empathize with a student who has a learning disability.

Development and application of the eight steps for creating an effective social skills program.

Practice of social skills teaching methods.
This workshop would be of interest to all those who care for or work with children with learning disabilities. Participants will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment.
